Until further notice, the counselling will take primarily place via phone. But you can also make an appointment for a personal counseling on site with Udo Gödersmann. To do so, send an email to with the info on which campus the appointment should take place. The appointments are possible during the regular office hours of the social counselling.

The AStA Social Counseling Service provides advice and information primarily about financial topics relevant for students and helps with problems with the respective institutions. We take into account the numerous special regulations for students and the interdependence of the individual fields of law.

  • Everything concerning BAföG, e.g.
    • BAföG eligibility, also for students without German citizenship
    • Application in general
    • AuslandsBAföG (BAföG fur students studying abroad) – temporary or complete studies (or internships) abroad
    • Change of university, change of field of study, proof of suitability
    • How your assets and your income influences BAföG
    • Support beyond the standard period of study (Regelstudienzeit)
    • Maintenance and parent independent BAföG
    • BAföG repayment to the Federal Office of Administration or the KfW
    • Reclaim by the BAföG office – in case of overpayments
    • Supplementary benefits in exceptional cases such as housing subsidy, social security benefit, SGB II

The office hours are also offered during the lecture-free period. These are open office hours – you do not need an appointment.
