SIM cards for students with unsufficient internet access

Due to the increased demand, the processing of applications is currently taking longer than usual. We ask you not to send us your application twice.

To support students in digital learning, special funds have been made available to provide students who do not have good access to the Internet with SIM cards with unlimited data volume for mobile Internet. This is to ensure that students who do not have their own hardware can also participate in digital teaching and examination formats.

The SIM cards can be picked up from ZIM with a corresponding letter of authorization from AStA and can be used for one semester. The SIM cards do not have to be returned, but expire at the end of a semester.

You can obtain such an authorization letter by sending a corresponding application by mail or by e-mail (in a collected PDF) to the AStA at the following address:

Finance Department of the AStA of the University of Duisburg-Essen
University Street 2
45141 Essen

or

sopo@asta-due.de

The application must consist of the following documents:

  • Short cover letter (including address, mail address and matriculation number)
  • Current certificate of enrolment
  • Bank statements for the last 30 days
  • List of monthly expenses (e.g. rent, health insurance, food etc.) and income (e.g. BAföG, salary, financial support from relatives etc.)

If you have any questions, please contact the Department of Social Policy. They will also inform you about the status of your application if you have not heard from us yet.
